Please find below the answers to some frequently asked questions about the End of Program Workshop. If you have other questions than the ones listed below, please contact your World Learning advisor. Please click on the drop-down arrow on the right to see the answer to the frequently asked question.
What is the dress code for the workshop?
Please plan to attend the workshop wearing business casual (also called "smart casual") clothes. Clothing should also be comfortable as you will often be expected to sit on the floor. Please make sure to bring comfortable walking shoes for the Photo Scavenger Hunt on Wednesday, November 20. Please remember to bring a jacket or coat as the temperature for the seminar week in Washington, DC will be around 45 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 35 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit at night. It is also a good idea to pack a rain jacket or umbrella in case of rain during the week.
Will the Global UGRAD program cover checked luggage fees?
As the workshop is less than a week, the Global UGRAD program will not cover any extra luggage fees for checked bags. Please consult your airline’s website to learn how many bags you can check or bring on the plane for free. Airlines generally allow one carry-on luggage and one personal item for free.
What if I am experiencing COVID-19 symptoms before departing for the Workshop?
If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms before the Workshop, please share this with your World Learning advisor. Please also go to the local pharmacy or student health center to take an antigen test. If you test positive, please inform your World Learning advisor who will inform you of the next steps.
Will face masks be required?
Face masks are optional and World Learning staff will have extra face masks on hand if you would like one.
Will I have roommates in my hotel room? If so, when will I meet them?
Yes, you will have one roommate in your assigned hotel room. Everyone will have their own beds. You will meet your roommates throughout the day on November 19 as students will arrive in Washington, DC at different times throughout the day.
Will I have free Wi-Fi at the Westin?
Yes. Once you receive your room key from the hotel, you will be able to login to the Westin's Wi-Fi network at no charge. However, we ask you to refrain from using your mobile phone, tablet, or laptop during the workshop's sessions. This workshop is a retreat from your daily life to engage with people who are in the same fields, network, collaborate, and learn. We encourage you to take a break from your daily phone/tablet/laptop use and fully engage in the workshop's sessions and activities.
Where and when will breakfast take place every morning?
A free, hot, buffet breakfast will be served in the Mezzanine Level of the Westin Hotel from 7:00 am to 8:00 am.
What if I am not feeling well during the workshop?
If you are feeling ill, please inform your World Learning advisor either onsite or by phone. You will have the World Learning staff mobile phone numbers listed on the back of your name tag. World Learning staff will help you take the appropriate steps to address your illness.
